«The Government intervenes in relation to the management of the resources allocated to Verdi Theater of Salernofor the realization of the opera-symphony season, for the execution of tax and social security obligations as well as for the purpose of supporting the artistic direction in accessing grants and ministerial funds». This is the request of the Salerno deputy of Fratelli d’Italia, Imma Vietri, through a question to the ministers of culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, and the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, with which he defines “unscrupulous” the management of the Maximum Citizen.
In the question presented in the last few hours, Vietri asks «whether and which initiatives within its jurisdiction, also assessing the existence of the conditions for the activation of inspection initiatives, the Government intends to undertake», starting from the assumption of how the Verdi Theater is «the temple of Salerno culture since the late nineteenth century and today hosts, in addition to the opera, ballet and concert seasons, theater seasons, reviews, concerts, events for young people, workshops, research seasons and guided tours». The Fratelli d’Italia parliamentarian accuses «the report of the 2023 opera, musical and concert season approved by the municipal council” which reports “disastrous figures that speak of an unscrupulous management of economic resources which risks not enhancing the image and prestige of the Campania theater».
The deputy’s attention, in particular, focuses on the expenses which are of «5.115.038,09 eurocompared to a box office taking of only 349mila euro; disastrous figures that see the Campania Region and the questioned Ministry investing in the future of the theatre, compared to zero allocations in 2023 from the Municipality of Salerno”. Going into the details, as Vietri highlights«overhead costs amount to over 778 miles euro».
