Victoria Apanasenko tells the world about the strength and courage of Ukraine, emphasizing this with her costumes.
On January 11, in New Orleans (USA), where the Miss Universe beauty contest is currently taking place, the semi-finals took place, in which the participants paraded around the stage in dresses, swimsuits and national costumes. The representative of Ukraine Victoria Anapasenko impressed the audience and the jury with her performance, the video of which appeared on the page of the organizing committee “Miss Ukraine Universe” in Instagram.
As mentioned earlier, for Victoria the “Warrior of the World” costume was created by designer Lesya Patokawho worked on it for four months. According to her idea, the outfit personifies Ukraine, which opposes the forces of evil and fights for its freedom.
“The image uses five basic materials and elements. A monolithic jumpsuit, symbolizing armor, wraps around Victoria like a second skin. A white dress, consisting of a stylized vyshyvanka with puffed sleeves, a skirt, which in total took more than 10 meters of fabric, and, created on a modern style of the kraika, that is, belts. The costume adorns a headdress with ears of corn traditional for Ukraine. Symbolic wings, burned in battle, framed in blue and gold armor in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, are opened for a decisive battle and decorated with a variety of mirror ornaments,” she described her work designer.
When the Ukrainian beauty took the stage, everyone saw one more “trick” of the costume. The wings, which the masters painstakingly created, working literally on every feather, straightened out and rose up thanks to the built-in mechanism.
Victoria’s swimsuit was no less symbolic. In addition to a blue one-piece swimsuit with a cutout on the stomach, she was wearing a cape. According to the terms of the competition, each participant herself had to paint it and present her story. At Apanasenko, the bird girl, symbolizing Ukraine, became the central element of the drawing. There are wounds on her wings, but courage and determination to fight for her freedom are read in her eyes.
The cape was crowned with the motto “Be brave like Ukraine” (“Be brave like Ukraine”).
The final of the competition will take place on January 14. In total, 85 countries are represented on it, including Russia.
Recall the Miss Universe contest was bought by a businesswoman from Thailand.
