As the representatives of the gallery write in “Delfi”, the black and white works included in the exhibition were originally created as illustrations and aesthetic addition to Ieva Rupenheite’s poetry book “Let the Woman” (Neputns, 2021), but in the gallery they take on approximations.
The author of the series is called “Elusive Processes”, which can be seen as a long-term action and a series of events, but they can just as well be observations and conclusions about a specific action. In turn, the title of the exhibition, which includes a direct address “Thinking about you”, gently provokes to think about the personality in these works and not to be afraid of the discoveries obtained.
Jānis Murovskis associates these print works with the flow of thoughts and the flowing formation of ideas. In these works, the components of the artist’s work can be seen, which are most often not revealed to the viewer. “We see a process – a fine X-ray of an artistic event. From the beginning to the end of a work, you always have to experience a wide range of emotions and technical nuances, in which each activity is given equal importance. curator Auguste Petre.
Screen printing is one of the oldest printing technologies, which has its origins in Ancient China and Japan.
“Jānis Murovskis’ work in screen printing is characterized by a unique technique developed over the years, assigning an individual handwriting to the technically precise format. If in the traditional technological process screen printing can be digital or photographic, “both the fine and precise drawing, and floats it – leaving room for coincidences. Each edition of the print is unique and it is impossible to repeat,” writes the creators of the exhibition.
