The exhibition “75 women in 75 years of the Council of Europe history” travels across Europe

Celebrating 75 Years of Women’s Leadership at the Council of Europe

Strasbourg and Warsaw Host Exhibits Highlighting Women’s Contributions

A moving tribute to the pivotal role women have played in shaping European democracy over the past 75 years was recently showcased in both Strasbourg, France, and Warsaw, Poland. The traveling exhibition, "75 women in 75 years of the Council of Europe history," offered a powerful visual journey through the decades, highlighting the unwavering dedication and accomplishments of countless women within the organization.

The exhibition’s journey began in Strasbourg, coinciding with the World Forum for Democracy. From November 4th to 9th, the city hall became a vibrant space for reflection, showcasing the contributions of these remarkable women. On November 12th, a guided tour drew both members of the public and city officials, underscoring the widespread interest in recognizing these often unsung heroes.

"Thanks to our colleagues from the Permanent Representation of Poland, the exhibition was then moved to the Casimir Palace of the University of Warsaw and displayed for the Warsaw Dialogue for Democracy," the Council of Europe shared, detailing the exhibit’s next stop.

The Warsaw Dialogue for Democracy, attended by roughly 200 experts, government officials, NGO representatives, professors, and students, provided a fitting stage for the exhibition. This prestigious gathering created a unique opportunity to further amplify the voices and contributions of these trailblazing women.

Through the support of the Polish Network of Women in Diplomacy, the exhibit also found a home at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Warsaw, ensuring its message reached a diverse audience of employees and visitors.

The exhibition is expected to continue its impactful journey in December, featuring prominently in the events surrounding the XV Warsaw Seminar on Human Rights.

This inspiring initiative was the result of a collaborative effort by the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe, the Council of Europe itself, and the Permanent Representations of the Netherlands and the United Kingdom – a testament to the power of partnership in celebrating female leadership and its enduring legacy.
