Quoted from page emodul.kemdikbud.go.id, The excretion system in animals is to excrete waste products of metabolism which, if not removed, can become toxic to the body. The organs that make up the excretion system in animals are the kidneys, liver, skin, and lungs. Here’s an explanation:
1. Kidneys
Kidney is the main excretory organ in animals. This organ functions to absorb or filter metabolic wastes contained in the blood, such as water, urea, and salt, which will be excreted from the body in the form of urine. From each kidney comes out the urinary tract or ureter that leads to the bladder (urinary bladder). Next, urine from the bladder is excreted through the urethra.
The kidneys filter seven liters of blood per hour. Clean blood is reused by the body, while dirty blood is processed in the kidneys to produce urine which must be excreted from the body. The kidneys are made up of small units called nephrons.
2. Heart
The liver functions as a gland in the digestive system, it is also part of the excretory system because it produces bile. The liver also functions as a place for the reshuffling or destruction of old red blood cells. The liver is where the process of protein reshuffling occurs. In the process of overhauling the protein, urea is produced which is harmful to the body. Therefore, the urea must be excreted from the body with urine.
3. Skin
The skin functions as an excretory organ because it contains sweat glands (glandula sudorifera) which secrete sweat. When the body temperature rises, the sweat glands will produce sweat. The sweat will be evaporated. The way this body temperature regulation works is the opposite in the opposite conditions, such as lack of activity or being in an environment where the air temperature is cold.
4. Paru-Paru
The next organ that makes up the excretion system in animals is the lungs. The lungs are respiratory organs that function to take oxygen from the atmosphere, as well as excretory organs that play a role in discharging carbon dioxide residue from the tissues into the atmosphere.
