The return of wireless charging with OnePlus 12
Leaker Yogesh Brar claimed on Twitter that the OnePlus 12 will bring some important upgrades, including better cameras (with two 50MP lenses and a 64MP lens), a larger 5,400mAh battery, an unspecified IP rating, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, along with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Additionally, there is an “advanced build”, which is not unusual for OnePlus.
All of this sounds great, especially the inclusion of wireless charging. OnePlus has been inconsistent with its implementation of wireless charging over the past few years, actually not offering it until the launch of the OnePlus 8 Pro in 2020. Since then, the feature has appeared and disappeared in the company’s flagship models, with some phones having it and some not, until it was completely absent with the launch of the OnePlus 11. Even though wireless charging is a basic feature on every other high-end smartphone and can even be found in a slew of mid-range devices, it never made sense and we’re happy to hear that wireless charging might be returning in the OnePlus 12. We just hope this time it lasts.
