The Evolution of Meta Data: From Twitter Cards to OpenGraph and Microdata

Funny, many websites have for years included special meta data in their pages in accordance with the standard that Twitter has created.

Twitter is the creator of the vcard for web pages:

Remarkable that Elon Musk now wants to throw that away.

I once developed special schemes and templates for the Tridion 5.1 CMS – then a Dutch party – now called SDL Web, which ensured that each page automatically received the correct Twitter Card information, with information from the article that the content editor wrote.

That was before there OpenGraph (from Facebook) and microdata existed.

By the way, @arnoudwokke Microdata was largely devised and developed by a Dutchman.
So thanks to that Dutchman we see stars, number of votes, prices, isbn numbers of books, authors etc in search results on the internet.
Maybe nice to do an interview / article with that. Fits into one of those earlier series.
