I think Linux is for people who make software (typeerdetyp), Windows is for people who want to use software (clickerdeclick).
And I don’t like typing…
I think that in the past you indeed had to type more when you used Linux, but I don’t think that is really the case anymore.
I’m using the latest version of Linux Mint (21.2), and most of what I do is in the GUI (clickerdeclick). I don’t think there is much difference between Windows, Linux and Mac for user-friendly desktop use.
What is true is that Windows has the advantage that ‘everyone’ knows it, because most people grew up with it, and therefore most people can use it. Plus, practically all software runs on Windows, because it’s commonplace.
In short, I would say: Windows is standard and everything works on it, Mac focuses very much on design and integration with Apple systems, and Linux has very high customisability and privacy.
