The digital transformation of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) began several years ago with actions in which the Institute transitioned from a 100% in-person and manual care scheme in medical units, to make its way through a hybrid scheme where Technology plays a strategic role in benefiting the care provided to the entitled population.
That is, computer systems were implemented and deployed to attend to various medical processes, however, Social Security did not have a system that automated all of the medical macro processes, such as outpatient consultation, emergencies, hospitalization, surgery and all those peripheral processes. such as prevention, epidemiology, comprehensive services, among others.
Given this situation, at the beginning of 2020 the Directorate of Innovation and Technological Development identified the need to have a solution that orchestrates and articulates all these processes, giving rise to the conception of the Digital Health Ecosystem.
The Digital Health Ecosystem is designed to converge all health IT systems into a single access point, automating and standardizing medical processes to support, streamline and facilitate the operation of IMSS health personnel.
The objective was to bring together all the solutions, make them interoperable and guarantee the quality and security of the information, consequently, its main benefit translated into the simplification of the manual processes that health personnel operated daily.
Currently, the Digital Health Ecosystem has the following components operating: Outpatient Consultation Module (MoCe) at the three levels of care, Emergencies, Hospitalization (PHEDS), Surgery, Clinical History, Oncology Patient, Breast Cancer, Chemotherapy, Data Bank Blood, HIV AIDS.
On the other hand, the Social Work and Agenda transversals are in the process of construction, which will have the capacity to serve the three levels of care, as well as the Diagnostic Auxiliary, Prescription and Mixing Central components.
The IMSS Digital Health Ecosystem is designed to incorporate more components as the need for growth demands it, that is, it is a living ecosystem, in continuous growth and adaptation, whose purpose is to support health personnel in their daily work and consequently , provide better medical care to the entitled population.
With this, the Mexican Social Security Institute takes another step towards its digital transformation.
