The Suez Canal Authority has announced an agreement that provides for the release, next Wednesday, of the giant container ship Ever Given, which had been detained after blocking the canal at the end of March, which had paralyzed a crucial hub for international trade. The agreement was reached with the ship owner. A ceremony is scheduled on Wednesday to celebrate “the signing of the agreement” and the “departure of the ship”.
The main reason for the dispute between Egypt and the Japanese company Shoei Kisen, owner of the ship, was the amount of compensation.
