The director of the Eva Perón Hospital, Gerardo Murga, commented that today they are celebrating the 100 general surgeries that are carried out jointly with the Burruyacú hospital. He indicated that Dr. Javier Flores, who is the Burruyacú surgeon, has been working at the Eva Perón since February one day a week, on Fridays, bringing surgical patients from his town to do the operations.
“The modality consists of identifying patients who need to perform surgery, do the pre-surgery at the Burruyacú hospital, they are scheduled on Fridays, which is the day Dr. Flores comes to do the surgery at the Eva Perón along with the head of the effector’s operating room. Generally there are two to three surgeries that are done in the afternoon,” explained the director, while saying that after the operation the patient is observed for a couple of hours and then is transferred back to Burruyacú.
Murga said that this modality of work was an initiative of the minister, Dr. Luis Medina Ruiz, and Dr. Dive Mohamed, of Health Management, who were the ones who told them how to articulate the assistance so that it is beneficial to the community: “ Being able to have the possibility of performing minimally invasive surgery in the hospital that has everything necessary to do it and that is practically outpatient is a great advance for the community.”
The team is made up of the head of the operating room, Dr. David Zelarayán, the operating room coordinator, Roxana Zelaya, and Dr. Javier Flores, from the Burruyacú Hospital.
