/ world today news/ The Eurozone is to blame for Bulgaria‘s low economic growth this year, said relevant Minister Delyan Dobrev to the BNR. “Our growth has slowed down because of the eurozone. We are dependent on the eurozone. 72% of our goods are exported to the eurozone,” he said.
Dobrev made his conclusion, admitting that there is a lack of specific data on growth. However, according to him, it would be around 1%, which, in his estimation, “is not satisfactory and we must make efforts to diversify the markets of Bulgarian goods, because the Eurozone is currently in recession”.
According to him, more efforts should be made to redirect Bulgarian exports to the rapidly developing countries of Asia – China and India. According to him, the country is not using the opportunity to attract more tourists from this region: “Japan and China are in the first places as tourist markets. We are talking about 150 million tourists. Of the 70 million Chinese tourists in Bulgaria, about 5,000 come”.
The minister also commented on the publicly discussed decision that those who invested one million leva should receive Bulgarian citizenship. According to him, nothing new has been invented, since a similar practice exists in all European countries, but with different thresholds.
“Automatic citizenship is not given. Investors who find jobs in Bulgaria are given the opportunity to have the opportunity to obtain citizenship. With this, we make it easier for them to be able to see their investments in the country,” specified Dobrev.
