20 years after its creation, it continues to be discovered. Known for its avant-garde aspect in the search for tomorrow’s European talents, the ESNS Exchange makes its return to the Eurosonic festival, from January 17 to 20, 2024 in Groningen in the Netherlands.
“Exchange is a project that connects all parts of Europe and helps artists grow beyond the local level, across European borders and around the world.” says Robert Meijerink, the artistic director of the Eurosonic festival, located in Groningen, in the Netherlands, to pay tribute to his device. In 2023, the European Talent Exchange Program (ESNS) celebrated its twentieth anniversary, with so many years of challenges in the music sector. Since 2003, ESNS Exchange has made it possible to create a large network including the major stakeholders in the world of global festivals. Their aim is to facilitate, support, inspire and promote the global circulation of European musical talent, without restriction. ESNS announces having helped 2,160 European artists from 36 countries across the continent. Here he is back for the new edition of the Eurosonic festival.
This one, also known as ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag), has defended the same values since 1986 with a four-day event combining music and conferences in several locations in Groningen. A true showcase for emerging artists from Europe, this festival above all allows some 4,000 professionals, including 400 festivals, to be able to come and fill their respective upcoming programs. Among the heads already passed, we find Dua Lipa, Wet Leg, Priya Ragu, and many more. That must mean it works, right?
France at Eurosonic
We are happy to share the fact that this year, France is well represented. On the program for France, twelve artists, including Angie. We recently told you about the first collaborative French female hip-hop project with Lazuli, I don’t understand. A source of pride for the artist, who thanks to her R&B, rap and Afropop tendencies, is reminiscent of a certain Stefflon Don, or a Ziak (to really go far). Still in hip-hop, Uzi Freyja will turn the heads of the people who came to see her. His alternative rap, which owes its crazy side to Death Grips and Ho99o9, is a mix of sensual, confrontational vocals and hard-hitting electronics. In the register of electronic music, Birrd will make the black corners shine with its melodious sound at the same time as BRACCOsensitive duo of dark club music and deep post-punk.
Training of those already established Astral Bakers will also be there. You’ve already heard them somewhere, because the members have already been able to collaborate with artists like Clara Luciani, November Ultra, Woodkid, or Pomme. It’s their turn to shine. Zaho de Sagazanwho we will never stop talking about, will once again lighten up on all the forms of music absorbed during the creation of his first album The Symphony of Lightning. The most Dutch among you will have the chance to say that you were there before they broke through, if that term still has any meaning.
