The European Union, through its High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, condemns the attacks in Lebanon, characterizing the situation “extremely worrying”.
In the statement, he even notes the collateral losses among civilians, also referring to small children.

At the same time, he calls on the parties involved to prevent a “total war, which would have grave consequences for the entire region and beyond.”

After yesterday’s series of explosions in Lebanon, I called Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib. He informed me about the explosion of a large number of electronic devices in many parts of the country. Thousands of people are injured – hundreds in critical condition – hospitals are collapsing.
Even if the attacks appear to have been targeted, they have had heavy, indiscriminate collateral casualties among civilians: several children are among the victims
I find this situation extremely worrying. I cannot but condemn these attacks which endanger the security and stability of Lebanon and increase the risk of escalation in the region.
The European Union calls on all parties involved to prevent an all-out war, which would have grave consequences for the entire region and beyond.
