“Ukraine needs more weapons and we will provide them,” said EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell.
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, already announced on Monday that the EU is going to give Ukraine another 500 million euros.
490 million euros will be spent on weapons and ammunition, and ten million on protective equipment, fuel and first aid kits.
The first 500 million euro package was already approved at the end of February, followed by three more – in March, April and May.
The funding comes from the European Peace Mechanism, a new EU financial instrument that can be used to strengthen the armed forces in partner countries.
Germany finances about a quarter of the spending, according to German Defense Minister Kristine Lambrecht.

Ukraine believes that Putin’s real goal is to destroy Ukrainian statehood and bring the territory under Moscow’s control.
Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has caused a general condemnation of the international communityagainst Russia more and more sanctions are introduced. Many western companies have decided to leave the Russian market.
