MADRID, 23 Nov. (PRESS EUROPE) –
The European Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating, together with the Revenue Agency, an alleged VAT fraud in the sale of luxury cars with estimated losses for the European Union and national budgets of over 12 million euros.
Through a statement, collected by Europa Press, the European Public Prosecutor’s Office explained that last Tuesday up to 14 cars of brands such as Rolls Royce, Mercedes or Audi were seized. It was an operation coordinated by the Criminal Police Unit of the Civil Guard of Valencia, which carried out eight searches in the city.
The prosecutor indicated that, according to the evidence, the suspects would have formed a criminal organization for the sale and purchase of used luxury cars between companies located in different EU member states in order to avoid paying VAT.
“According to the investigation, which began at the end of 2021, three crimes related to VAT fraud would have been committed between 2019 and 2021”, said the European prosecutor.
