Hungary may be deprived of the right to vote in the European Parliament. The EU believes that the country allows itself to blackmail against other states. This was stated by Vice-President of the European Parliament Katarina Barley.

She also noted that the country’s violation of the rule of law could be a reason for depriving a vote. According to her, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has taken the country under complete control and allows himself to abuse the principle of unanimity in the EU for the sake of blackmailing other countries.
