A new round of the European Film Challenge begins on November 8 with European Art Film Day, where you will have the chance to win a paid trip to the Berlin Film Festival.
In order to participate in the European Film Challenge, participants must watch ten European films on legal platforms by 8 January 2021 and each time after watching a film must be registered on europeanfilmchallenge.lv, posting a picture showing where and how they have watched the film – in a cinema, festival, TV or online.
On Sunday, November 8, Art Cinema Day is taking place all over Europe, and by visiting the cinemas “Kino Bize” or “KSuns”, you will have the opportunity to earn the first extra points for each of the films you have seen.
Points will be awarded for each film and platform registered for the competition, and the participant with the highest number of points in the prize will receive a paid trip to the Berlin Film Festival, which will take place from 11 to 21 December 2021. In February.
“Prestigious film festivals are mostly intended for a small circle of representatives of the film industry, which means that film fans who do not work in film-related professions rarely have the opportunity to attend them,” notes Greta Akcijonaite, the initiator of the European Film Challenge competition from Lithuania. “We want to give cinema lovers a unique opportunity while promoting European cinema.”
In case Berlin decides to go only online or the winner will not be able to get to the festival site due to pandemic restrictions, the winner will receive an equivalent competition award – the opportunity to watch Berlin films in private screenings at the cinema “Kino Bize” in Riga.
