The European Film Academy Awards will be presented; Signe Baumane is also among the nominees

The European Film Academy Awards will be presented on Saturday 10 December in Reykjavík, the capital of Iceland. As reported, a Latvian director is also applying for the important film award this year Mr Baumanewhose movie”My wedding planwas nominated in the “Best Animated Feature” category.

The ceremony will take place in the concert hall and congress center “Harpa” and it will be possible to follow it live on the European Film Academy website. Start – 21.15 Latvian time. The ceremony will also be broadcast live on the giant screen of the “Splendid Palace” cinema, allowing the public to enjoy it almost as if it were in person.

This year, the European Film Academy Awards will be awarded for the 35th time. Winners in 26 categories are determined by a vote involving 4,400 members of the European Film Academy. 16 of the winners of these categories have already been named in advance, while 10 categories will be awarded during the event. Around 600 invited guests will attend the ceremony in Reykjavík in person, including members of the European Film Academy from Latvia

As mentioned, “My Wedding Plan” is also in the running for the award this year. The film, advertised as an animated musical for adults, had its Latvian premiere at the opening of the Riga International Film Festival and received total enthusiasm and a standing ovation from the audience. It was also nominated for the Latvian National Cinema Award “Lielais Kristaps”.

Signe Baumane’s work had its world premiere at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York, was also screened at the Annecy Film Festival in France, a major one for the animation genre, and received international attention at other events as well of the sector.

It should be noted that Lithuanian director Mantas Kvedaraviča’s film “Mariopolis 2”, which was made by the director in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol under siege by Russian occupying troops, was also nominated for the award in the documentary film category. Kvedravić was shot, but the film was completed by his colleagues and collaborators.
