The “European Christmas” festival will close with Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio” / Article

“Johann Sebastian Bach’s ‘Christmas Oratorio’ has become an integral tradition of the Christmas season not only in Latvia, but also in many European concert halls and churches,” said the concert organizers. “Although the content of the story of the birth of Christ is unchanged, and the lines of the oratorio are easily remembered, the composer’s monumental work always pours peaceful joy and sparkling delight into the hearts and minds of the listeners. Conductor Kaspars’ oratorio series Putniņš fragments will allow you to experience both the story of the birth of Christ and the unique music of the magic of Johann Sebastian Bach.” The concert will be attended by soprano Elīna Šimkus, mezzo-soprano Doroteja Bīnerte, tenor Nicholas Malroys, baritone Pauls Putniņš, the Latvian Radio Choir, the state chamber orchestra “Sinfonietta Rīga” and conductor Kaspars Putniņš. Oratorios 1, 2. and part 3 will be performed during the concert.

Conductor Kaspars Putniņš said about the upcoming concert: “It is a great pleasure for me to invite everyone to this concert, because without Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio”, in my opinion, it would not be a real Christmas season. Johann Sebastian Bach has created an opportunity to depict such an omnipresent and all-encompassing flow of love and also such a real and true celebration in your “Christmas Oratorio” – it’s just a wonderful experience, – every year anew! The Wonderful Latvian Radio Choir , the wonderful “Sinfonietta Rīga”, wonderful soloists and our beloved Torņakalnė Lutheran Church. We invite everyone to this concert!”
