The annual European Assembly of Small and Medium Enterprises begins today in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, and this year will focus on the European companies of the future.
The Assembly is the most important event of the year for European small and medium-sized enterprises and their supporters. The forum will discuss how best to implement SME policy in real life to ensure the success of European SMEs.
The assembly is organized by the European Commission and the EU Presidency, the Czech Republic.
The assembly, which brought together representatives of business associations, politicians and entrepreneurs, will continue until Wednesday 30 November. Its culmination, like other years, will be the European Entrepreneurship Promotion Awards (EEPA) ceremony.
The prizes are awarded in six categories: “Encouraging entrepreneurial spirit”, “Investing in entrepreneurial skills”, “Improving the business environment”, “Supporting the internationalization of companies”, “Supporting the development of an environmentally friendly market and efficient use of resources” and “Responsible and inclusive business”. A special jury prize is also awarded.
The European Prize for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship was established in 2005 by the European Commission to promote entrepreneurship and small businesses at regional and local level by recognizing and rewarding excellent initiatives in support of entrepreneurship. The aim of this initiative is to identify and assess the most successful entrepreneurship promoters in Europe, highlight best entrepreneurial practices and policies, raise awareness of the added value of entrepreneurship and encourage and inspire potential entrepreneurs.
This awards ceremony aims to raise awareness of the business – both politically and practically – and celebrate its success.
