The Eurometropolis of Strasbourg is accelerating the transformation of the West Strasbourg heating network, which provides heating and domestic hot water to the inhabitants of the Hautepierre and Poteries districts. This infrastructure will be 88% powered by a combination of renewable and recovered energies, of which more than 40% will come from the Hautepierre hospital. “The largest subscriber to the heating network now becomes a renewable energy supplier”, explains a press release from the community. The Eurometropolis welcomes “the commissioning of new heat recovery and biomass production equipment […] scheduled for early 2025”. EVOS, a subsidiary of ENGIE Solutions, has been the new heating network operator since July 1, 2022 (date of renewal of the public service delegation contract). The contract provides for extensions of the current network to the neighborhoods de Cronenbourg and Koenigshoffen This large-scale project represents a total investment of €92 million.
