Failing to find the young festival-goers in flesh and blood this summer, L’île du savoir invites them to go on a learning expedition by crisscrossing the islands of THE VIRTUAL ARCHIPELAGO EURÊKA !, a new educational fun space teeming with ‘scientific activities developed and presented by those who make science from here. Exceptional showcase for organizations working in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), THE EURÊKA VIRTUAL ARCHIPELAGO! is completely free and will be available year round.
THOUSAND MILLION THOUSAND KNOWLEDGE!
Launched on June 30, THE VIRTUAL ARCHIPELAGO EURÊKA! offers nearly 60 varied and interactive experiences in the form of games, video clips, quizzes, podcasts, etc. A true science fair where educational content is presented with enthusiasm and authenticity by enthusiasts, this new platform grants privileged (and fun!) Access to the fascinating world of science, technology and Quebec innovation.
Young people aged 8 and over are therefore invited to sail on the waters of the archipelago aboard the boat they will have built over the course of their experiences. Their mission: participate in activities, feed on scientific knowledge and progress in a world filled with inspiring discoveries!
Visit real university laboratories and workshops, observe the work of a geologist in the great outdoors, learn to code, become the captain of a space expedition, question oneself about genetic manipulation, investigate dinosaurs or discover some strange plants that grow in Montreal Botanical Garden, all this is possible in THE VIRTUAL ARCHIPELAGO EURÊKA !. Activities and themes that will remind you of the usual Eureka format! through the fields of aerospace, video games, artificial intelligence, health and life sciences, earth and environmental sciences, port and maritime environment, engineering , physics, chemistry and many more!
TWO “AWESOME” BOW FIGURES
Back for this 14th revisited edition of Eureka !, the duo of spokespersons, Stéphane Bellavance and Martin Carli, bring their distinct voices and their usual complicity to the podcasts that will guide participants throughout their journey through the islands of the archipelago.
ON THE RISE
Since the inaugural edition in 2007, more than a million visitors, including 50,000 students, have taken part in Eureka!
Three days of fun and scientific discovery as well as a host of FREE interactive activities are offered. In 2019, the Eurêka Festival! will have had a record attendance with nearly 142,000 festival-goers on the promenade of the Old Port of Montreal.
With the favorable development of the health situation and the gradual lifting of restrictions, the Festival team is already heading towards its 15th anniversary, in June 2022, and is planning a return to dry land with optimism and enthusiasm. . After the crisis we have just gone through, science and technology have never deserved to be celebrated with such ardor!
