The EU will not support the statement of the foreign ministers of the G20 countries without condemning the Russian war

The EU delegation will not support a statement at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in India unless it contains a condemnation of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

This was reported by Reuters, citing its own source. “European Truth”.

Separately, European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said the success of the New Delhi meeting would be measured by what it can do about the war in Ukraine and its aftermath.

“This war must be condemned. I hope, I am sure that India’s diplomatic potential will be used to make Russia understand that this war must end,” Borrell told reporters.

Russia said it is using the meeting to tell the world who Moscow believes is responsible for the political and economic crisis the world is in.

The main G20 meetings will take place on Thursday after a welcome dinner on Wednesday.

The G20 includes the wealthy G7 countries, as well as Russia, China, India, Brazil, Australia and Saudi Arabia, among other countries.

India, as the host, said that the war in Ukraine will be an important topic for discussion, but “issues related to food, energy and fertilizer security, the impact of the conflict on the economic challenges we face” will also receive “due attention.”

The meeting of foreign ministers takes place a few days after the meeting of G20 finance ministers in Bengaluru, at which failed to reach a consensus by joint application.

The reason was the unwillingness of Russia and China to agree to formulations acceptable to others regarding the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
