The EU plans to step up the fight against vaccination misinformation / Day

Participants in the Brussels summit said that the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 had made significant progress in Europe in the fight against the pandemic, but that the situation remained very serious in some countries.

The leaders of the member states also called for further coordination of measures for the control of persons entering and moving between the territories of the EU. The communication also states that it is necessary to prepare for similar crises in the future. In addition, barriers to the supply of vaccines to the countries in need in the world need to be removed.

A two-day meeting of EU heads of state and government began in Brussels on Thursday with a broad agenda. The leaders will discuss the current situation in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, foreign policy issues, migration policy, high energy prices, trade policy, as well as digital agenda issues.

The European Council is attended by the Heads of State and Government of all 27 EU countries, the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission. It takes the most important and topical EU decisions, sets the general political directions and priorities of the EU action.

The country is represented in the European Council only by the Head of State or Government, who may be replaced in his absence only by another delegated member of the European Council, namely another Head of State or Government.
