The EU has proposed sanctions on Putin’s concubine

Kabayeva is believed to be the mother of at least three of Putin’s children and is involved in spreading Kremlin propaganda.

The European Commission (EC) on Wednesday presented to EU member states for approval a new package of sanctions against Russia, which provides for a complete embargo on Russian oil, as well as sanctions on several dozen people.

Hungary, Slovakia and several other countries are currently opposed to these sanctions, seeking the right not to comply with Russia’s oil embargo.

If all EU member states are able to agree on a new package of sanctions, Kabayeva will be banned from entering the EU and existing funds in the EU will be frozen.

The draft EU sanctions state that Kabayeva is chairman of the board of directors of National Media Group. The company has shares in almost all major Russian state media.

The United States believes that Kabayeva is involved in hiding Putin’s personal wealth abroad and that he and her family have gained wealth through close relationships with Putin and his immediate circle.

The new sanctions list includes three journalists from the Russian state news agency Ria Novosti for involvement in spreading government propaganda, Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church, members of the military suspected of war crimes in Bucca, and members of the Kremlin’s Dmitry Peskov.

Since Russia annexed Ukraine-owned Crimea in 2014, the EU has imposed sanctions on 1,091 people and 80 legal entities.
