With its timeline spanning thousands of years, The Eternals promises to give us a whole new perspective on the various events of the MCU. The cosmic heroes who will be introduced there have indeed participated in the evolution of humanity from its beginnings, while remaining in retreat at certain key moments. In addition to delving into the history of the Avengers universe, the blockbuster should remind us of the previously released ones, like that Captain America : Civil War. The feature film is indeed one of the many inspirations of Chloé Zhao, the director of the film. The Eternals.
During an interview with Empire magazine, the filmmaker revealed that Civil War was really the Marvel project that had drawn her to the superheroic universe. What she seems to have preferred above all is the morally ambiguous aspect of the plot. “I have a feeling that Marvel has already explored the concept of moral ambiguity in quite a few movies like Civil War and Endgame. For a lot of people, Thanos was right. I loved the idea of continuing to challenge that righteousness. which is used in the superheroic genre. ” Captain America: Civil War put the cohesion of the Avengers team to the test, bringing out some past resentments and hidden secrets.
