This time the Eta Aquarid meteor shower can be observed from Indonesia. That certainly makes it quite special.

After Eid, there will be a natural phenomenon in Indonesia. This phenomenon is a meteor shower called Eta Aquarid.

This meteor shower occurs annually. Andi Pangerang, a researcher from the BRIN Space Research Center explained that the peak of this meteor shower was the same as last year, namely May 6.

The Annual Eta Aquarid Meteor Shower Phenomenon

The Eta Aquarid phenomenon is a meteor shower originating from Halley’s comet. This meteor shower is seen in the constellation South Aquarius.

If the weather permits, you can see this phenomenon more clearly after the crescent moon sets and when the sky becomes darker.

He explained that the Eta Aquarid will be very visible from the southern hemisphere or close to the equator.

Launching from the researcher from the BRIN Space Research Center, Andi Pangerang said that the peak of this phenomenon will be the same as last year, namely on May 6.

Andi also explained that although the Eta Aquarid phenomenon originates from the constellation Aquarius, to enjoy it, it is not necessary to face the constellation Aquarius itself.

That’s because the meteors appear on the Eta Aquarid from various directions in the sky. The Eta Aquarid meteor shower comes from the fragments of Halley’s comet which appears once every 76 years.

Eta Aquarid Fenomena Phenomenon Schedule

For those of you who want to watch this meteor shower, then you can observe it around 01.00 WIB in the morning until 05.00 WIB. The highest radian point of the meteor shower will occur before dawn or around 04.00 WIB.

The peak of the Eta Aquarid on May 6, 2022 will be at 09.00 WIB. As a result, the best visible time will only be seen when the radian point of the Eta Aquarid will appear starting at 01.00 WIB on the same date.

Last year, this meteor shower occurred during the month of Ramadan, so people can watch it at dawn.

Eta Aquarid is a meteor shower phenomenon that is very good for you to watch because it has a moderate intensity, which is around 50-60 meteors falling per hour.

You can observe this meteor shower well if the sky is clear because it coincides with the old crescent moon. As a result, the sky will be quite dark.

Although the peak is on May 6, 2022, this meteor shower will still occur until May 28, 2022 in the same time span.
