A marathon of paquitos. And the Cahors brass band, which has just celebrated its first anniversary, is picking up the pace even further. Launched in December 2022, on the idea of Marc Bozzato, musician and former restaurateur of the Cahors Market, the Bubble band has come a long way. First, on the small roads of the Lot. “We have just validated 30 dates for this year while last year, we gave 14 concerts,” announces Guillaume Defrance, secretary of the Bubble band association.

The ensemble has grown from 20 members to 40 today and has nearly 30 musicians. Because it must be said that the fanfare quickly became a victim of its success. “We received a lot of requests, particularly from the department’s festival committees. Our response times were sometimes a little long and we missed certain dates. Probably because we were not sufficiently structured to manage all the requests “, remembers the musician of a young brass band already a victim of its success.
It is now done: the office was optimized during the last general meeting and Excel tables created to better organize. The team will no longer miss out. Even if the calendar is very tight: village festivals, Saint-Vincent wine festival in Cahors, Christmas events in Cahors, rugby matches, football matches, trails, Ekiden, music festival in Tour-de-Faure , presentation of the cultural season at La Prade, Pink October… Dates are even already set for 2025.
Their dream: the ham festival in Bayonne
To this schedule we must also add events for individuals such as birthdays and baptisms. The musicians who have now added a flocked jacket to their outfit for winter outings continue to rehearse every Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the conservatory but are looking for a venue. “We want to rehearse more freely, to get together for the weekends with our equipment at our disposal,” he observes. The group has also come a long way… towards moving upmarket. “We have seasoned musicians and other beginners, the idea is to improve their skills,” says Guillaume Defrance. To do this, the band is accompanied by a professional musician and Nora Turpaut, the dancer from Lot who helps them choreograph their pieces. “We are well aware of benefiting from a boost effect, we want to take advantage of it to continue to shine,” he notes again. The Cadurcian band requested the national fanfare plan which could allow it to benefit from credits. In the meantime, Bubble band continues on its merry way which will lead it, it hopes, on the road to the bandas festival in Vic-Fezensac or to the ham festival in Bayonne.
