The Essential Role of the Medical Team in the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship

ABU DHABI, 3rd November, 2017 (WAM) – The medical team is an essential factor in the success of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which is currently being held at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, with the participation of more than 7,000 male and female players representing 127 countries.
The medical staff includes more than 7 individuals, including a doctor, a nurse, a physical therapist, and a paramedic, and the team works throughout the day to treat players’ injuries in competitions.
Dr. Walaa Al-Zeer, a family medicine specialist from the medical team present at the tournament, said that most of the injuries received at the medical clinic are treated immediately, while some of them require transportation to the hospital, but their number is not large, as they are due to a dislocated shoulder, a broken hand, or the leg.
She explained that the medical staff works around the clock to provide rapid support to all players, and to determine priorities according to the type of injury, as many injuries are similar, especially related to strains, bruises, or rapid heartbeat, and all of them are treated within the clinic.
She pointed out that the medical team has full knowledge of injuries in this type of game, which facilitates rapid diagnosis and the start of treatment.
