The incident happened at about 8:20 a.m. on June 8 (local time) in Bundang district (Seongnam City, South Korea). An escalator going up to exit 2 of Sunae Station suddenly reversed and went back down for a few seconds.

The accident caused 3 people to be hospitalized, 11 were slightly injured (have been treated and discharged). No one’s life is in danger.

Police are investigating the exact cause of the crash, but initially said there was little chance of someone doing it on purpose.
