Although more than twenty years have passed since the publication of the last book in the fantasy saga of The Witcher, this brand is today at its peak. The Netflix series will soon enter its third season, we will soon see the next-gen version of the cult trio and another part is already in production. And actually not one, but all of them trilogy.
And as if that weren’t enough, CD Projekt has now announced a remake of the first part.
It was released in 2007 and turned an unknown Polish studio into a world-class star (see our review). Unfortunately today it is difficult to return to this legend, as its graphics have become rather obsolete. Fortunately, this is not the case with the story, which was able to follow the pentalogy of the original book and transformed the taciturn witcher Geralt into one of the most popular video game heroes.
The remake will be curated by the Fool’s Theory studio, which is signed under the interesting RPG Seven (see our review). In addition, he has also collaborated on legends such as Divinity: Original Sin or Baldur’s Gate. “They know the source material well, they know how much players are looking forward to a remake and they also know how to make great and ambitious games,” commented Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt, of this decision.
The main change will obviously be the new graphics, which will run on the modern Unreal Engine 5, but the developers won’t be afraid to change some game mechanics. We cannot even imagine that the collectible cards of seduced naked women would still pass today ..
Unfortunately we will have to wait for the result, it is said that development is only at the beginning.
