Spanish national team veterans Pau and Mark Gazoli have completed their careers in the Spanish national team, Eurohoops reports. The two brothers made this decision after losing in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics today, when the superiority of the US national team was recognized.
Pau, 41, has indicated that he is currently reflecting on his future and has not yet decided the future of his professional career. Last season, he joined the Spanish superclub “Barcelona”, where he played with Latvian Roland Schmidt. In his career with the Spanish national team, he has won 11 medals in three different national team tournaments, including gold in the 2006 World Cup, as well as three first places in European championships.
Meanwhile, five-year-old Mark will most likely spend the next season at the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) club, the Los Angeles Lakers, where he was last season. 36-year-old Mark has won nine medals in his home team, including the 2006 and 2019 World Cup gold awards, and in 2009 and 2011 he and his brother triumphed in the European Championships.
It has already been reported that in the quarterfinals, the Americans defeated the Spanish national team with the result 95:81. Pau did not stand out in this fight with points, spending only six minutes and 17 seconds on the field. Mark was also unable to send the ball to the US unit basket and ended the duel with only four balls under the baskets.
