According to the portal, Dénes Balogh, the nursing director of the clinic, writes in the letter that “Csongrád-Csanád county is the most affected (according to recent county data In Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok the situation is worse – ed.), although in Szeged and Hódmezővásárhely the epidemic has not yet broken out, 246 patients with covidosis are already being treated at the Clinical Center. ”
It is also written in the letter that the number 246 is higher than the peak of the second wave of the epidemic and is approaching the peak of the third wave around 300 at the clinic in Szeged.
An important difference, however, is that
the general condition of inpatients is much worse than during previous waves, and the proportion requiring intensive care is much higher.
The current wave is expected to peak in mid – or second half of December.
The director also detailed that “so far, all covidos patients in the county have had to be cared for by the clinical center, this week will change: all serious patients in the county will have to be cared for by the clinical center, while other hospitals in the county have been involved in milder cases.”
The possibility arose that
it may be necessary to reopen the epidemic hospital in Kiskunhalas,
which the clinic in Szeged would like to avoid in any case, because it is likely that mostly Szeged workers would be directed there, which would further complicate the situation. The leader also predicts that the situation will worsen so much that an additional 140-150 specialists will need to be involved in the care of coronavirus patients within a few days.
“The resources needed for COVID care must be provided by the clinical center, with patient care being a priority: specialist emergency care and COVID care, followed by vaccination. The resources remaining after these tasks can, of course, continue to be used for elective care. elimination is not on the agenda “, the letter said.
