In the Chernivtsi region, 34 cases of the Delta coronavirus strain were recorded. About this on Thursday, August 5, reported press service of the Chernivtsi Regional State Administration.
As the chief sanitary doctor of the region Natalia Gopko said, the strain began to spread throughout the region at least from mid-July.
According to her, the laboratory examined material from people who came from countries with active circulation of the delta strain.
“Given the ability of the virus to spread quickly, we can assume that it is already spreading throughout the region. That is, we are talking not only about the delivery of the Delta from abroad, but also about internal infection,” said Gopko.
Delta was also found in the Ternopil region, reported Regina Medical Doctor Oksana Chaichuk.
According to her, since mid-July, the incidence in the region has almost tripled.
“We monitored the situation in the region. We checked 94 samples and identified 52 positive samples (Delta). We transferred it to the reference laboratory of the Public Health Center and received confirmation of all. Today we say that there is a Delta strain in the region,” she said.
Chaichuk noted that most of these people returned from abroad, in particular from Russia and Britain.
Earlier today, the chief sanitary doctor Igor Kuzin said that 147 cases of Delta strain have been confirmed in Ukraine… According to him, the greatest distribution was recorded in Volyn, Odessa, Ternopil regions, Chernivtsi and Kiev.
At the same time, he noted that while the authorities are not considering the possibility of the introduction of a lockdown due to the Delta.
