The time for the final Master has come for the first edition of the fronton series. This competition bringing together two specialties, pala corta and paleta leather on the left wall, began this summer, in Toulouse, for the first stage. In September, the second stage took place in Anglet. The third was played two weeks ago in Portet-sur-Garonne. And the fourth and final stage returns to Anglet, to the wall on the left El Hogar, this weekend.

The best French and Spanish players in the rankings meet for one last clash. The semi-finals are scheduled for this Friday from 6 p.m. The pala corta players will open hostilities with Imanol Perez and Justin Dardenne opposing the Moura brothers, Michel and Julien. At 7 p.m., it’s time for the leather paleta with Emiliano Skufca and Ruben Ayarra who will play against Nicolas Hourmat and Thomas Laborde. The second paleta leather semi-final will pit Bastien Picard and Yon Gavillet against Benoît Chatellier and Lucas Hourçourigaray at 8 p.m. Finally, the second pala corta semi-final will be played at 9 p.m. Sylvain Brefel and Jagoba Madariaga face Bastien Quintana and Mikel Sanz.

“Far from being won”

The two teams had already met two weeks ago in Portet-sur-Garonne. Brefelel-Madariaga narrowly won. Sylvain Brefel is once again expecting a complicated game: “It’s a semi-final that I have to take very seriously, that I have to prepare with my partner. We play against Sanz who is world champion […] It is far from won. We will have to avoid Sanz as much as possible, pass him high to try to put pressure on Quintana, who is less powerful than me and who will give Jagoba ammunition.”

The finals will be played on Saturday morning. At 10 a.m., the under-22 hopefuls will play in the curtain-raiser. The paleta leather finale is scheduled for 11 a.m., then the pala corta finale at 12 p.m. A successful first edition for Sylvain Brefel who considers it “necessary to do this tournament”.
