Last October, the Departmental Commission in charge of assessing health and technological risks issued an unfavorable opinion on the project led by the Syndicat des Eaux d’Île-de-France (Sedif) to produce reverse osmosis water at the Arvigny plant in Savigny-le-Temple (Seine et Marne). It is the turn of the Prefect of Seine-et-Marne to refuse environmental authorization for the deployment of Low Pressure Reverse Osmosis (OIBP) in this pilot site.
SEDIF takes note of this decision by the prefect, but “regrets the impact it will have on the progress of the work of the pilot plant”. A decision contesting the favorable opinion issued on July 20, 2021 following a public inquiry carried out within the framework of the environmental authorization, on the Arvigny site and its discharge pipe into the Seine in the four municipalities concerned (Savigny-le-Temple, Lieusaint, Nandy and Seine Port).
For the record, the investigating commissioner had considered in his report that the deployment of the OIBP at the Arvigny plant constituted “a considerable technological advance in the field of drinking water distribution, never equaled to date”.
800 million euros for the deployment of the OIBP
SEDIF is determined to pursue its project. The union devotes in its 2022-2031 investment plan, voted by elected officials in December 2021, 800 million euros to the deployment of the OIBP in the three main factories of SEDIF, from 2024. “Assured of the interest of the inhabitants and municipalities of its territory, SEDIF will continue its pioneering project towards pure water, without limestone and without chlorine, and always without plastic waste, which is part of its 2022 investment plan- 2031 », underlines the union in a press release.
“We are determined to pursue this project of the future and of general interest, which meets the expectations of our 4 million users in the Ile-de-France in terms of water quality and anticipates the increasing requirements of the authorities in terms of health”, commented André Santini, president of SEDIF.
