TIME.CO, Jakarta – Towards the end of 2022, Xiaomi redmi has launched a new entry level smartphone called Redmi 12C. Not only that, many IoTs have also been launched together with the mobile phone, such as the Watch 3, Band 2 and Buds 4 Lite.
Redmi 12C
The device has a 6.71-inch HD+ display with a notch for a 5MP selfie camera. The back panel – it has a non-slip texture and diagonal lines – uses a fingerprint scanner. On the back are dual cameras with a 50MP main camera.
Redmi 12C uses the Helio G85 processor combined with up to 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 128GB of storage, expandable up to 512GB. The operating system used is MIUI 13, but users will not get all the features of MIUI 13 on 12C as the phone is running an exclusively optimized version of MIUI 13.
The built-in battery capacity is 5,000mAh, a microUSB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device supports 4G networks and has a dedicated microSD card slot.
The Redmi 12C is available in four colors and has three memory options: 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB and 6GB/128GB priced at CNY 699/$100, CNY 799/$115 and CNY 899/$100. $130. The device goes on sale in China on January 1, 2023 via Xiaomi China’s official website, but nothing is known about its availability in other countries’ markets.
Redmi Watch 3
The new wearable features a 1.75-inch diagonal square-shaped AMOLED screen. The device has 341 PPI, 60Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 600 nits. The body has flat sides, similar to the current smartphone trend, and there’s a single hard button on the side.
Redmi Watch 3 features an always-on display, and when the device is turned on, it can have more than 200 different watch faces.
Xiaomi has improved the Watch 3 battery so that it can now run for 12 days on a single charge, with continuous monitoring of SpO2 (blood oxygen) and heart rate. The device is certified for underwater use to 5 ATM and also works with GNSS for precise tracking in sports.
There are 121 different exercise modes, and this wearable can function independently without needing a smartphone companion, because it has GPS navigation. However, a mobile phone is required for Bluetooth calls, and the company has introduced a noise-canceling microphone for better call quality.
The Redmi Watch 3 retails for CNY499 in black or white color variants. As for the strap, there are three colors for an extra CNY69.
Redmi Band 2
With the launch of this wearable device, the line between smartwatches and smart bracelets is blurrier than ever. The Band 2 has a 1.47-inch screen which is 76% larger than the first Redmi Band. The watch band itself is 9.99mm thick and weighs 14.9 grams.
The device doesn’t support Bluetooth calling but still offers features like blood oxygen measurement and menstrual cycle tracker for women. There are more than 30 exercise modes, and the battery lasts six days on a single charge with heavy use, or nearly 14 days with normal use. The company doesn’t elaborate on what normal use means.
Redmi Band 2 costs CNY159 until the end of 2022, then the price rises to CNY169. There are six color choices, namely fluorescent green, rose gold, black, light blue, dark green and white.
Redmi Buds 4 Lite
Redmi Buds 4 Lite is available in four color variants, some are neutral with black and white, and there are cheerful, orange and green color variants. For the orange variant, the color of the case and the buds are the same. However, the green variant, only on the buds while the casing on the outside remains black but the inside is green. These earphones are also called Youth in Chinese, judging by the color choices, they are intended for young people.
The Buds 4 Lite feature 12mm drivers for deep sound and intelligent noise reduction during calls. Each gem weighs only 3.9 grams and the entire package, two gems + case, offers up to 20 hours of battery life. Other specs include working Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity for instant connection with select Xiaomi devices, and the earphones are IP54 certified against water and dust ingress. The Buds 4 Lite retail for CNY149.
