The ensemble “Davinspiro Camerata” created by violinist Daniil Bulajev is preparing for a concert in Dzintari / Article

This summer is a busy time for violinist Daniils Bulajevs – he has just returned from concerts in Austria and Italy, before that he performed together with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra in Dzintari concert hall. On August 2, he will return there again, but this time together with his chamber orchestra “Davinspiro Camerata”, created this spring. He was inspired to create it by similar examples – the compositions created by Gidon Kremer and Vladimir Spivakov.

“The responsibility is very big, not only because it’s my interpretation or something. It’s a completely new project that I created myself, and I’m not only responsible for myself on stage, but also for the 14 musicians who are sitting behind me,” says Bulayev.

Cellist Maksims Skibickis reveals about the formation of the collective: “He started almost immediately [plānā] the composition that he would like, and called those people who are really close acquaintances or close friends, and we immediately had an understanding that we would still be able to unite as a team, because we are all in the same company almost all the time. And it’s really easy to get used to each other, also in music.”

Violist Santa Lucia Circene is also pleased with the collaboration: “It’s very cool to play because everyone here is young and active, and the creative energy is simply fantastic in this group, so it’s never boring in rehearsals.”

The musicians are truly enthusiastic and full of energy, also rehearsing the Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdi String Octet, which will be performed in Dzintari on the evening of August 2. The center of the concert will be the theme of the seasons – the cycles of Antonio Vivaldi and Astor Piazzolla. Piazzolla’s music is especially close to the young violinist.

“I love this composer very much with his rhythms, with his writing style, with his harmonies, and also very interesting lines can be found between Piazzolla’s “Seasons” and Vivaldi’s “Seasons”, and I hope we can show that tomorrow,” says Bulayev.
