After the design sketches of the new Hornet shown in May, the Japanese at Honda have revealed more information on the development of the next edition of the model. The photos posted clearly demonstrate the aggressive look of the car.
The concept model is powered by an all-new 755cc eight-valve inline twin Unicam engine, delivering a maximum power of 67.5 kW at 9,500 rpm and maximum torque of 75 Nm at 7,250 rpm.
Compact and lightweight, the powerplant continues the Hornet tradition. Together with the high revs, the engine delivers full torque at mid-range and correspondingly impressive acceleration.
The remarkable “pulse” of the power unit is combined with an extremely funny sound and an optimized exhaust system. The head of the project’s development team, Fuyuki Hosokawa, who also led the development of the latest generation of CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, shares:
“The Hornet has always been a very special Honda motorcycle. Exciting, with captivating dynamics, it has consistently stood out for its flexible and agile handling. Before starting to work on this project, we thought down to the smallest detail what kind of dynamics and behavior to provide to the drivers.
We felt it was important to keep the Hornet’s classic horsepower high and at the same time we wanted the new generation of the model to have an engine that would provide a really strong feel at the rev range. Our intentions have always been to achieve the lightest and most manageable handling possible, so that every bike ride, even in the city, is the most engaging experience possible. “
