The ending of Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’ explained

The end of Tenet will probably make you think. Director’s film Christopher Nolan is a pretty bizarre one, especially as the story progresses. The comment that you shouldn’t think too much and embrace the whole thing helps.

Anyway, what does the end want Tenet exactly say? In this article, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to be able to place the ending correctly. To that end, Tenet’s men and women must try to save the world. They do so while Kat tries to delay Sator’s suicide so that the world doesn’t end with Sator’s death.

What is the temporal pincer movement?
For that, the men and women of Tenet must try to detonate it doomsday device to stop. The red team moves forward in time and the blue team moves back. They do this for a period of ten minutes, with the red team detonating a bomb on the bottom half of a building after five minutes and the blue team doing the same with the top of the building. That produces a spectacular result.

What’s going on with Neil?
At the end, the Protagonist and Ives encounter a locked gate. On the other side they see the body of a masked soldier, who has a red rope on his backpack. One of villain Sator’s men tries to shoot the Protagonist, but the masked man comes back to life, is shot and manages to open the gate. As a result, the Protagonist manages to prevent the end of the world, after which he can exit the tunnel. Later we also see the red rope on Neil’s backpack, who therefore died. And he reveals that the Protagonist has recruited him in the future.

Everyone works for the Protagonist
So it turns out that everyone works for the Protagonist. At the end of the film, he travels to London to save it from Kat from arms dealer Priya, who believes she must solve the loose ends. The Protagonist then shoots Priya and realizes that he will go back in time and establish the secret organization Tenet.

Recruit Neil
Extra nice is that Neil notes that the film Tenet only the beginning of the collaboration and friendship with the Protagonist. He will recruit him in the past, after which the two will spend a long period working together and befriending. So he knew in the scene in India what the Protagonist normally drinks when he is working.
