The production of one of the cheapest station wagons on the market will end in a few days, but the official successor remains in sight and so interesting speculations are multiplying.

Thanks to its fantastic price / performance ratio, the Dacia Logan MCV was one of the most popular and at the same time most available station wagons on the market, but as we wrote at the beginning of March, its production ends this year. The French magazine Ziarul Financiar even specified that the last pieces will come off the production lines during this week.
The carmaker has not yet commented much on the successor, only mentioned that it is already working on clever development solutions that will make the new generation completely different from the ending model. But what can we really imagine under this lavish phrase?

According to the French magazine Ziarul Financiar, two models could succeed the popular station wagon. The first could be the already confirmed second generation of the Lodgy model, while the second could be a completely new – up to seven-seater SUV. Many sometimes referred to as the “Grand Duster”.
At first glance, this theory may seem silly, especially with a brand like Dacia. But regardless of its target customers, who are especially sensitive to price, it is necessary to realize that across the entire European market, there is a transition of customers from station wagons to SUVs and crossovers. A large SUV with three rows of seats would not have to be completely out of reality.

Francois Mariotte, Dacia’s sales director, said in 2017 that we could forget about the seven-seater Dacia Duster. The car would reportedly lose compactness and off-road features. But Mariotte also claimed at the time that we would not see an electric Dacia either. Recently introduced Dacia Spring it is thus just one of many proofs of how much everything has changed in three years.
In addition, if speculation about the transition of Dacia Duster to the CMF-B platform were confirmed, which does not yet offer all-wheel drive in any of the models already mentioned, Dacia could put worries about off-road characteristics behind its head. However, there is a possibility that the large seven-seater Dacia SUV would not even have to bear the name Duster, and Mariotte himself did not rule out the existence of such a car in 2017.
