The End of the Siege of Kiai Jombang’s Son, DPO

The arrest of DPO for molestation Moch Subchi Azal Tsani (MSAT) alias Mas Bechi was colored by the drama of the siege of hundreds of police. Police officers surrounded the Shiddiqiyyah Islamic Boarding School in order to arrest Mas Bechi.

The siege at Ponpes Shiddiqiyyah, Jombang, under the care of KH Muhammad Mukhtar Mukthi, lasted for 16 hours, from 07.00 WIB to 23.30, Thursday (7/7/2022).

The police closed access to and from the cottage road, starting from the Ploso Bridge to the Bawangan traffic light. The situation at the location was filled with police officers in uniform or not, police cars also seemed to fill around the boarding school.

In front of the boarding school door, members are fully clothed with iron shields and tear gas guns on standby. So that no one can get in and out of the hut.

Hundreds of ambush members from Satbrimob also forced their way into the hut. According to journalists at the location, the police operation was met with resistance from the pesantren. There was tension when the police received resistance.

The resistance resulted in one member of the East Java Police Satbrimob being injured in his right hand. The injured member was then pulled out and taken to the hospital in a Bhayangkara ambulance.

The existence of mass resistance made the police inevitably try to push the fence to enter the Shiddiqiyyah Islamic Boarding School.

The last step

The Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police, Kombes Dirmanto, explained that the siege was the last step in capturing Mas Bechi.

“The East Java Police are following up on the handling of obscene cases by MSA, now we are still in the process of conducting a search inside the lodge. This is the police’s last step to submit it to the court,” said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Police Kombes Dirmanto at Ponpes Shiddiqiyyah Jombang, as reported by detikJatim, Thursday (7/7).

Dirmanto said that so far his party had taken humane steps in arresting the suspect. For this reason, this forced pick-up is the last step taken when these efforts are deadlocked.

“I think the East Java Police have handled this case humanely for a long time, we have reminded them, have given input to the family, to the lawyer concerned. However, he does not want to be present at the Regional Police. We have even issued a DPO,” Dirmanto added.
