The end of the official Mac client

The official “Twitter for Mac” app has left the App Store. X user Vedant announced this in a Post on XFor him, it is the “end of an era”. Although there is no official statement from X about the process, it is possible that they have decided to finally remove the app from the App Store after its further development had been halted since Elon Musk took over Twitter.

If you click on the App-Store-Linkwhich once led to the Twitter for Mac app, you get the message from the App Store “This app is currently unavailable in your country or region”. So the official Twitter client is over, which, admittedly, was abandoned and rebuilt several times even before the Musk era, which cost users a lot of nerves in the meantime. However, the client has remained stable for the time being despite a lack of further development. This lack of further development also means that the app was completely free of the X rebranding until recently, which was certainly pleasing to some.

While it initially seemed that those who had already downloaded the now-defunct Twitter for Mac client would be able to continue using it for the time being, this client is now also limited in its functionality. This means that the app will soon no longer be usable for existing users either.

Using X-App on Mac

There is some good news, though, because the X app for the iPad can now be used on the Mac. It’s not a native app experience, but it’s better than nothing. Note, however, that you can only run iPad apps on the Mac if your Mac has an Apple processor built in.
