Already from the first generation, the Fabia was offered with several bodies. At the turn of the millennium, a new model from Mladá Boleslav debuted as a hatchback, less than a year after its premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1999, a more practical estate car arrived, and the range was rounded off by a not very attractive sedan. With it, the second generation was abandoned and only the so-called short and long version remained to choose from.
Fabia Combi celebrated great success not only on the Czech market. Since the start of sales of the first generation, over 360,000 station wagons have been delivered to Germany, 270,000 units remained in the Czech Republic, roughly 120,000 of these cars were purchased by Polish motorists. Although the first generation had the most significant sales success, the third generation also sold over 410,000 units worldwide.
In 2021, however, Škoda officially announced that a station wagon is not expected for the fourth generation Fabia. The surprise was all the greater, because just a few months earlier, the brand’s management had confirmed its development, while it was supposed to arrive shortly after the hatchback. After all, even the head of Škoda at the time, Thomas Schäfer, fought intensively for its creation. “My heart bleeds for the Fabia Combi, but we have to move on. It was a decision we had to make,” he said after announcing her end.
Farewell tour
To say goodbye, Škoda has prepared the Fabia Combi Tour for the third and outgoing generation, i.e. a discounted farewell edition, which for some time was offered alongside the fourth generation and scored points with, for example, a 530-liter trunk. It only had a 1.0 TSI engine with an output of 70 kW and offered a choice between a five-speed manual and a seven-speed automatic transmission. The price list of the Tour edition with the Active equipment started at a nice sum of CZK 359,900, with an additional forty thousand for the automatic. Ambition and Black levels with a unique appearance were also available for more demanding customers.
And Škoda knows very well that it would quite easily sell even more cars than the production capacity. After all, orders for new cars had to stop already at the beginning of 2022, although production of the Fabie Combi Tour continued for another year. This is to cover all the orders that have already been placed. “The end of production of this model took place at the end of 2022. The Fabia Combi and Fabia Combi Tour models are available today as stock cars at authorized Škoda dealers,” confirmed the spokeswoman for the brand’s Czech representative office, Michaela Sklenářová.

Prices are going up
Therefore, anyone interested in the Fabia Combi Tour must carefully monitor the offer of individual sellers. Coming across a farewell edition is not that difficult, just on SAuto server we can find several dozen such cars. But the attractive price list of the car is valid for the beginning of 2022, so it is not surprising that the advertised pieces are often more expensive than the original list price. And sometimes really significantly.
The Fabia Combi Tour in the Black version cost 409,900 CZK when new with a manual transmission, or 449,900 CZK with an automatic transmission. To this day, dealers still have completely new cars in stock, which are still decorated with protective transport foils. But they don’t want slightly more than four hundred thousand crowns for a car, but 460, 470, 480 thousand… the record holder is a brand new station wagon for 497,900 CZK! And we’re still talking about a car with a manual.
Of course, the economic crisis and inflation have greatly affected the prices since the launch of the farewell station wagon (we tested one for you and the gallery is attached below), but such an increase may shock many. Even so, something tells us that after the last handful of cars it will just get dusty.
