The next four weeks will be above average in temperature. It will be the warmest next week from September 14, when it will also rain the least. According to meteorologists, it will be reminiscent of a typical old lady’s summer. This follows from the long-term weather outlook issued by the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute on Friday.
“With the continuing autumn, average temperatures will gradually decrease, but even so, they should mostly remain above the limit of long-term temperature norms or move at the interface of normal and above-average values,” said meteorologists.
The long-term average temperature in the Czech Republic in the period from September 14 to October 11 is 11.4 degrees Celsius. The warmest year these days was 2006, when the average temperature climbed to 13.5 degrees. In contrast, in 1972, the average was only 7.6 degrees Celsius.
“In terms of the total amount of precipitation, we assume that the period from 14 September to 11 October 2020 as a whole will be within the limits of long-term averages,” the CHMI added. The average total precipitation in this period is 41 millimeters.
The monthly outlook expresses the overall nature of the weather, therefore it does not cover all possible fluctuations, the Hydrometeorological Institute points out. The success of the outlook is around 75 percent at temperatures and around 65 percent at precipitation. The forecast for the third and fourth weeks is often close to the long-term climatic values for the respective periods.
