Jörg Wacker, member of the executive council in charge of the internationalization and strategy area, was an eyewitness during the lighting ceremony. “It is a great honor to see one of the world’s most prestigious buildings lit up in red for FC Bayern München and our successes on the pitch during a historic season, as well as for our work off the pitch,” said Wacker. “In New York we opened our first office outside of Munich and from the first moment we felt at home. Since then we have worked with the premise of increasing our community of fans, forging a mutually beneficial relationship and supporting the development of football in the USA”.

In the 2019/20 season, the most successful German football team won six titles: the Bundesliga, the DFB Cup, the UEFA Champions League, the German Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. FC Bayern is one of two teams to have achieved a sextet in football history.
“The past 15 months have been exceptionally difficult for all teams due to the pandemic. Now that New York City is back to life, we congratulate ourselves on lighting up the Empire State Building in red,” said Rudolf Vidal, President of FC Bayern for America. “We look forward to celebrating more special moments in New York and elsewhere in the United States.”
Since the club’s founding in 1900, FC Bayern has won 31 league titles, 20 German Cups and six Champions League (or European Champions Cup, in its former name), making it the German football club with more titles.
