the emotion of Jean-Claude Killy on RTL hearing the voice of his father

On February 9, 1968, Jean-Claude Killy won his first gold medal at the Olympic Games in Grenoble, before signing a historic hat-trick. 54 years after this coronation, the champion looks back on this victory at the microphone of D-Day.

Emotion is very present for Jean-Claude Killy, who hears on the show a sound archive of his father, Robert Killy, dating from 1968. “I did not expect it. It’s a mixture of surprise, sadness and joy because I had an extraordinary father”, confides Jean-Claude Killy, holding back his tears.

This call, the champion made it in 1968 just after his victory. His father, then a restaurateur, is in his establishment surrounded by his friends. “He had a very fine cellar and at the end of the Olympic Games, there was no longer a bottle and he had never opened the cash drawer for 17 days. Everything was free. So you see these are memories very very moving and very positive, because he was obviously someone exceptional”, concludes Jean-Claude Killy.

Every day in Jour J, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on RTL, Flavie Flament makes you discover the great news moments that have marked the collective memory.
