The Joint Operations Command of the UAE Armed Forces announced, on Wednesday, the transition of Operation “The Gallant Knight 2”, which is dedicated to supporting those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, from the rapid response phase to the recovery and rehabilitation phase, according to the Emirates News Agency, WAM.
While the mission of the Emirates Search and Rescue Team in Turkey ended after the Turkish authorities announced the end of the search and rescue operation, the Emirates Search and Rescue Team in Syria is still training the Syrian teams on the search and rescue equipment that was donated to the Syrian side.
The rapid response phase of Operation “The Gallant Knight 2” lasted for two weeks.
During it, search and rescue teams were dispatched to Syria and Turkey with a total of 134 rescuers, and an air bridge was operated, as the number of flights reached 136 flights.
3,772 tons of humanitarian, food and medical materials were transported, and two field hospitals were opened in Turkey.
