The emigrant was horrified by the amount of the debt collection tax: Lithuania is still at least 50 years behind

“This is a really kind of profit,” the woman currently working abroad and spending more time there than in Lithuania complained to the news portal.

She said that she owed 16 euros to Sūduva Waters for one overdue month, because she is currently gone and did not pay on time.

“So, I was charged a debt collection fee of 10 euros. It was really very strange, because the customer of “Sūduva Water” was overpaying for a very long time and even just a month ago. I haven’t had to pay any recovery fees yet. I do not understand whether that company Sergel operates on any legal basis? It made me very angry about it. How can the debt collection fee be almost the same as the debt? ”The emigrant wondered.

According to the woman, upon receiving such a request for payment, she immediately called both companies and first asked “Sūduva Water” which clause of the contract provides that they can treat their client in this way.

“You know, as it is, this company is the only one I can contract with and get water from. Then they do what they want with you. All the more so now there is a situation that quarantine, people have lost their jobs, sitting at home, maybe really a problem for man? Wait a month or two, and not immediately after a month, in those ways, demand that 16 euros. “

In the past, she says, she was also late in paying and considered that she had probably now done so due to more frequent delays.

“I will give you such a comparison. My friend is renting a house abroad. There are certainly a lot of insolvent people, but he can neither sell the house nor throw people away. The state forbids doing so, imposes penalties because people for pandemics found itself in a difficult position and now everyone has to cooperate. This is the opposite in Lithuania.

When people are in a difficult situation, it’s something the situation takes advantage of. This is exactly what a company like Sergel is taking advantage of.

I have no idea at all whether it is legally possible to do so by charging some extra fees. I really never had such problems that I wouldn’t pay. It’s already the case that sometimes I paid ahead because I go abroad and sometimes I get in debt because I don’t manage to do it, but I really never didn’t pay. It is not a debt of 600 or 1600 euros, but only 16 euros. It is not even the point of money here, but it is very angry that this is happening in Lithuania at such a difficult time. “

In her view, the pandemic situation is being exploited by some and nothing is hindering it. The woman feared she couldn’t get angry with the supplier either because no one would supply water afterwards.

“I can choose an electricity supplier, but not water. I don’t understand how such a debt collection company can work, especially like that Lithuania hard time? I don’t even understand how this is possible? I understand that if companies relied solely on human factors, they would probably go bankrupt and need some rules, but I am a hard-working customer, constantly learning, sometimes going forward.

Unfortunately, suddenly there is some kind of recovery company that charges me € 10 for nothing. What will they do if I don’t pay them? Will sue? How does this company work? I understand how bailiffs work, and on what basis do they work? ”

The emigrant assured that she has been living and working abroad for almost 10 years, therefore she can compare life there and in Lithuania.

“When I talked to my foreign friends about this situation, they told me that we are still, at least, 50 years behind. That approach, even in supermarkets, where everyone seems to be in a running race, so they throw their wares on you. The same goes for banks that have no competition here and charge for keeping our money. We are already a state of beggars, but they show the same to those Swedes because they also need to live on something.

Going anywhere abroad is felt like a person and that you are needed. Anyway, I am preparing to end my life in Lithuania, although I am currently working in the United Kingdom. I spend 9 months in this country and three in Lithuania. I have my own house in my hometown, I pay for utilities, but now I think that maybe I will come back here only for the children, ”she said and questioned her decision to return permanently.

Residents are not exempt from obligations

Representatives of Delfi’s Sergel commented that they were sorry, but could not comment on the case in detail due to the provisions of the BDAR, as this would require the disclosure of the personal data of their client Sūduvos vandenys.

“We invite this client to contact us. During the conversation, we will explain the situation in detail. We would like to make it clear that companies have the option of not recovering late payments themselves and passing them on to recovery and management companies such as Sergel.

UAB Sergel operates in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Lithuania and represents the rights and obligations of the creditor, thus, acts as an intermediary who informs the client’s client and helps to harmonize the terms of payments. When contacting the client’s client, we analyze the situation, review the information received from the creditor at that time and provide it to the client’s client, helping to restore payments. “

According to the representatives, when purchasing goods or services, each of us enters into contracts that create both rights and obligations.

“It is our duty as consumers of goods or services to pay for them on time. We understand that the pandemic affected many of our country’s population, some lost their jobs, but for both public and private sector companies, this period is also a challenge and interrupted cash flows negatively affect their situation, which can lead to bankruptcies, redundancies, non-payment with suppliers, partners. etc

The Government of the Republic of Lithuania has not made any decisions that would release the population from the fulfillment of obligations, therefore sooner or later the debts and the costs incurred by the creditor in recovering them will have to be paid. ”

He also assured that Sergel sincerely evaluates each situation during this difficult period for everyone, adapts individual solutions: coordinates payment schedules, plans installments, helps to settle financial obligations, and restores viable cash flows.

“We invite all our customers to contact us if they have any questions. We will help and enable us to make the right decisions when recovering and making payments. ”
